On Friday 1st November, BKB announced their second 72-76kg prizefighter contestant, Ellis Shepherd. A BKB debutant, Ellis comes into the company at just twenty-one years of age, making him the youngest ever BKB fighter. However, this isn’t the Englishman’s first Bare Knuckle pursuit, having fought three times in other promotions. Standing at 3-0 in Bare Knuckle Boxing with three finishes, Ellis is highlighted for deceptively quick hands and raw unforgiving power.
Fighting out of Bailey’s Gym, Basingstoke under the watchful eyes of Jeremy Bailey and James Shin. Ellis Shepherd has a good camp behind him with national amateur Boxing sensation Harvey Dossett as his main sparring partner. However, like many a Boxer, Ellis travels around the country in search of fresh knowledge from new sources. Of particular note is a recent visit to Camberley Boxing Club to train alongside fellow BKB fighter Darren Hendry. A carded ABA amateur in his youth, after some time away from the sport Shepherd returned to fight for UWCB recording a TKO victory earlier this year. From here a career in Bare Knuckle Boxing ensued bringing us up to his BKB signing in the present day.
Ellis Shepherd will be putting it all on the line at BKB 20 for a chance at winning £5,000 in the one-night prizefighter tournament. The Woking-based Boxer is an additive to an already star-studded tournament, with Sean George and James Connelly announced alongside him. One more name is set to be unveiled, yet the anticipation is already rife amongst fans. Can Ellis overcome the odds in what will surely be the underdog story of the year? Tune in to BKB 20 on 25th January and grab your tickets at axs.com.
In a statement to the fans and fighters, Shepherd had this to say:
I’m young, fast and pretty, train hard and fight easy, this is a tough sport and respect should be given to all competitors, God bless.Ellis Shepherd
