This just in, BKBtm have officially parted ways with veteran American Heavyweight Josh Burns. After two years of loyal service and eight fights to his name, Burns finishes his BKB career with a record of 4-4. In a statement made earlier today, BKBtm CEO Joe Brown had this to say…
On behalf of BKBtm, I would like to wish Josh Burns all the best in the future and equally extend assurance to everyone that there are no hard feelings in letting Josh go. Josh has always been a solid stand up guy and like myself a man of God that was always true to his word. His release is in no way a reflection on him as a person, this is simply the fight game and results ultimately count. Josh will always be welcome here in the UK with BKBtm and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.Joe Brown- BKBtm CEO
Josh Burns started his BKB career all the way back at BKB 4, with a decision defeat to Hari Miles. From here Burns would go on a three-fight win streak, besting Karl Cook, Neil Derry and Billy Hawthorn on his way to a World Heavyweight Title shot against Michael Terrill. Unfortunately, Burns was out-classed on the night. However, a quick resurgence followed as Burns finished Adam Jenkins before succumbing to consecutive defeats against Tony Johnson and Daniel Podmore.
Unfortunately for Josh, these back to back losses spelt the end of his BKB tenure. A brutal reminder of the competition at the highest level of Bare Knuckle Boxing. Yet, despite his release, Josh leaves a lasting legacy as one of the pioneers of American Bare Knuckle Boxing. A man who welcomed all-comers and could certainly dish out a beating, ‘The Hammer’ will be sorely missed at the BKB shows. We here at ‘Toe The Line’ wish to rally behind Joe in extending our thanks to Josh for his tireless service to BKB and for giving us so many fun fights.
